My project consists of many elements, starting from allowing old and new HP switches to talk to each other using VLANs and trunk ports, redesigning the network infrastructure and layout of the existing network in a university laboratory  room server, and configuring the switches according to the new network layout.

We have two types of HP switches (HP A5120 EI -new & ProCurve 2650 -old), which means each type has its own commands and specifications. In order to allow these switches to communicate, we need to address each one according to its way of configurations and commands.

The network infrastructure and layout in university laboratory room should be redesigned. We have many unused ports in the old switches, and cables are not organized that well. I created an excel sheet and assigned each switch to specific servers, PCs, and VLANs. This will help anybody come after me understand the layout of the network easily.

Lastly, the switches need to be implemented according to the layout. The patches, switches, and cables in the racks will be placed according to my network design and the instructor assistant’s plans.  The switches to the server room could not be implemented due to running services on servers. Switches were also configured to connect to an Indiana Company.
