The purpose of this project was to allow users to monitor activity in a room of their choice. Among these capabilities are: motion detection, recording, audio, and SNMP protocol.
The hardware used was a basic computer, two USB cameras, and iSpyConnect software. A UPS was also installed for the machine so that, in the event of power loss, the computer would still be able to operate for a short time.
The software, iSpyConnect, has two versions, free and paid. Currently the lab is using the free version of the software, but the only difference according to the website is that the paid version allows remote access from any computer or device, anywhere in the world.
