IT Specialist consulting for non-profit organizations

This project was created to assist two non-profit organizations with any technical support needs that they should have. Both received assistance with their IT needs, and had wireless connectivity issues troubleshot. One organization additionally had donated and purchased equipment installed and set up, while the other was assisted in choosing a new ISP.

FreeNAS is an open-source, Linux based freeBSD, network storage operating system. It can be installed on virtually any hardware platform that allows it to share data over a network. Before Living Lab, I had no work experience related to my IT career. I am grateful to my teachers for their support and encouragement on my projects. I experienced projects hands-on and improved my soft and technical skills. I learned how to work independently and also with a team as needed. The Living Lab has taught me that not all projects will go as planned. You will run into problems and situations that frustrate you. The Living Lab has been a great experience for me throughout the semester. My time in Living Lab was really beneficial because the software we learned about is used in the real world. I learned additional skills, such as being disciplined on arrival time, trying different methods to solve problems, and asking help from peers.
